Rock 'n Roses

Son: "Mom, can I use some of your red paint?"

Me: "Why?"

Son: "I want to paint something."

(Not wanting to squelch any artistic endeavors, but VERY cautious of loaning paint to sons who ask for RED paint).

Me: "Ok, but you need to put paper towels or newspaper down before you start and please be sure to have plenty of paper towels handy 'just in case', and make sure you have all of your supplies ready, like a paint brush, water, etc. before you start, and either take off your shirt, or put on an old one." (Yes, that was said all in one breath).

Son: "Ok, will you get them for me, and can I also have the black?"

(....and just because it's easier and I have all the supplies handy....)

Me: "Yes, but you need to clean it up when you're done."
~*~*~*~

So for Mother's Day I was presented with red roses stuffed in a vase (I'll try to give them a little more room in a larger vase soon), and a red heart-shaped rock with black lettering.

Translation: I heart Mom

Oh, and he cleaned up....guess that was part of my present too!

How was your Mother's Day?

That is THE best! Ever! Nothing store bought can beat that! Mine was similar - one sweet picked white rose from Ryan & a burned CD of "Lavender Diamond" from Eric! Now that's a truly lovely Mother's Day! I'm glad yours was Happy!

Suzanne, that is so sweet. I don't blame you, the fear of handing over red paint...it is a big step . Looks like you were rewarded well for your trust though...very sweet story.
